On Saturday, October 26th the PhAQT travelled to Toms River, NJ to compete in the Southern New Jersey History Bowl tournament. Phoenixville’s A-Team included seniors Kyle Kobilka and India Reiss as well as sophomore Olivia McGinnis. Though short a player, the team finished in 3rd place, losing a close semi-final match to Ranney High School. The team’s 5-1 record and high finish earned it a spot in next April’s National History Bowl Championships in Crystal City, VA.
PhAQT’s B-Team also did well on the day. Juniors Chris Mazur and Chris Reiter were led by sophomore captain Claire Halloran. The B-Team managed a 4-1 record in the JV field.
India Reiss also competed in the National History Bee held during the team tournament’s intermission. India placed second in the preliminary round and qualified to compete in the National History Bee Championships to be held during April’s championships.
